our history

The Foundation
IMAS, Industria Meccanica Attrezzature Stampi, is a family-run and family-controlled company, which has been operating since 1968 from its premises at Via Tinelli 23/25 in Massa. Thanks to Adriano Fiorentini's experience in the field of stamping dies and sheet metal bending, it has stood out from the early stages of its development as one of the most important Italian stamping companies, both in terms of product quality and the innovative design solutions adopted.
1968
The First Decade
Its predisposition and interest in diversifying production has enabled it to operate in a wide variety of sectors, thus being able to count OLIVETTI Synthesis, PIAGGIO Motocicli, SAN GIORGIO Elettrodomestici, FOEM Grandi Cucine and CAR BENCH International among its customers.
1978
NEW PRODUCTIONS
Capitalising on the experience, professionalism and technologies developed during the first decade, IMAS implemented a strategy of sector diversification, thus beginning the production of precision mechanical components, automatic assembly machines, moulds for refractory products for steelworks, increasing its customer base with, among others, OTO MELARA, TUBI DALMINE, EATON, TERMOMECCANICA, SANAC.
1980
DIVERSIFYING TO BROADEN KNOWLEDGE
Starting in the second half of the 1980s, the punching and bending die for sheet metal, the main product for IMAS, began to be progressively replaced by new generation sheet metal working machines (punching machines, laser cutting, NC bending machines). Foreseeing a sharp drop in its turnover, once again, IMAS implemented a strategy of sector diversification, starting to design and build metal powder sintering dies for the production of sintered components used in the automotive, construction, natural stone, glass and ceramic industries.
1985
THE TECHNICAL BREAKTHROUGH
The great passion for precision mechanics, the company's mission, which has always been directed towards knowledge of new technologies, the high specialisation of its technical staff, and the strategic interest in a relatively new, but constantly evolving sector, meant that IMAS, during the second half of the 1980s, directed its investments in technology and technical training entirely towards the metal powder sintering mould sector.
1990
POWDER MOULDS
In the second half of the 1990s, IMAS' production was almost entirely directed towards metal powder compaction, calibration and sintering moulds.
1995
MOULDS FOR DIAMOND TOOLS
IMAS, which has been designing and developing various models of moulds for cold presses (Dr. Fritsch, Sintris, Arga, EDL, Dorst) since the early 1980s, quickly achieved a leading position among Italian diamond tool manufacturers. In the light of the excellent results obtained, it was decided to give priority to, and therefore increase, the production of diamond tool moulds, seeking to propose them on the foreign market.
1997
MOULDS FOR DIAMOND TOOLS WORLDWIDE
Since the early 1980s, various models of cold presses have been produced: gravimetric, volumetric, with automatics, CNC-controlled, with robots, with palletisers, and for each of these IMAS supplies 140 customers in 24 countries with moulds, accessories and spare parts, over 150 items.

50 YEARS OF ACTIVITY
50 years have passed, many of us, after a working life spent with IMAS, will reach our well-deserved retirement in the coming years. In order to pass on the valuable experience gained and to ensure continuity, a gradual generation change and a multi-year programme of technological renewal are planned.
2018
NEW WEBSITE
On 01/01/24 our new website went online, and among the many new features was the introduction of a customer area, in which it is possible to manage drawings, orders, invoices, and production progress, all of which is secure and can be found at any time by both parties.
