Cold press moulds are used for compacting metal powders mixed with diamond to form diamond segments. In order to counteract the devastating abrasive action caused by the diamond, the moulds are made of special teperated steel HRC 63/64.
The metal powders used have a micrometric grain size, and to prevent the material from leaking during pressing, it is necessary that the clearance between punch and die is no more than +/- 0.02 mm.
Moulds for sintering presses are made of nickel-based super alloys, suitable for working at sintering temperatures.
